The aim of SiciliAmbiente Festival is to promote independent documentary cinema and to encourage creative exchange and networking among the directors.
This Festival is organized and sponsored by Demetra Produzioni SAS and CANTIERE 7 Cultural Association, with the support of the City of San Vito Lo Capo and many other sponsors who share the same principles of the Festival.
Films dealing with the following themes may participate: Environment, Anthropology, Human Rights, Biodiversity, War, Integration, Civil Rights, Sustainable Development and the Relationship between Man and the Environment.

The film festival focusing on the environment, sustainability and human rights is opening its doors again as the 9th edition approaches. SiciliAmbiente Documentary Film Festival will take place in San Vito Lo Capo (Sicily, Italy) on July 18 - 23, 2017.
Worldwide filmmakers can submit their documentaries, shorts, and animated films by April 30th through the online entry form at
Participants may also enter through the many available platforms, including FilmFreeway, Clickforfestivals, Festival Focus, Festhome.
With the artistic direction of Antonio Bellia and coordination by Sheila Melosu, the festival will once again focus not only on film screenings, but also roundtables, meetings with directors, exhibitions, workshops and other collateral events, all in the enchanting seaside setting of San Vito Lo Capo -  rich in beauty, nature, and culture. 
Made possible by the Sicily Region/Sicily Film Commission, and promoted by the city of San Vito Lo Capo, Demetra Produzioni, and the cultural association Cantiere 7, the 2017 film contest includes 4 categories:
- Documentary contest
- Short film contest (Fiction and documentary)
- Animated film contest
- "Bike shorts", a sustainable mobility and bicycle-themed short film contest.
