Innovative documentary film makers from all over Europe meet up in Neubrandenburg and in Szczecin every year. They show films which deal with changing realities; films which test and even transcend the boundaries of their genre in the exciting frontier region between tradition and avantgarde. We especially welcome entries from young filmmakers who have not yet established themselves.

Preference will be given to films which have not previously been shown elsewhere, although we will accept those which have. Every year a different European film school will introduce itself as part of the festival’s international programme. Besides the European competition dokumentART also offers a special to promote East-European film. Thus encounters between young filmmakers from Eastern and Western Europe within an expanded Europe are supported. Our international programme is further supplemented by Specials, Retrospektives and regional features. The festival is organized by a German association in Neubrandenburg and a Polish association in Szczecin. The festival programmes will be shown simultaneously in Neubrandenburg, where "dokumentART" has traditionally taken place, and in Szczecin in Poland.
