There is a woman, then another slightly taller. They come from – the title gives it away – we think so and thus scrutinise them, the kingdom of Ubu. The first woman opens a blue umbrella on a bus. She eats a red tomato on a bench. It’s a cemetery bench. She wanders amongst the graves. Lies down on the ground and sleeps for a while. The other woman is playing the violin. We don’t know it straight away, even though it is her we have been listening to since the start. She is playing in front of other women - old ladies. It’s an old people’s home. The film runs faster than life which moves at a slower pace than elsewhere. Something has vanished, we are not sure what, but we feel it it’s certain. The streets, the apartment blocks, the interiors all murmur about it. Even though they are cluttered with knick-knacks, and houseplants as if tenanted by all this bric-a-brac, the interiors speak only of this. So does the light. And the strings of Agnieszka’a violin. It does not lessen the beauty it does not lessen the joy. It prevents nothing, it opens it up. Yes, it opens it up. (Jean-Pierre Rehm - FID Marseille 2008
