Au-delà de l'Ararat est l'histoire d'une femme d'origine turque sur le chemin de son identité. Un road-movie où, depuis le quartier de son enfance à Bruxelles en passant par la Turquie et jusqu’en Arménie, elle questionne son héritage culturel. Un voyage où chaque femme rencontrée devient un reflet possible de la réalisatrice.
Pénétrant dans la terre de ses origines, l'Anatolie, Tülin s'arrête au village de sa grand-mère. Elle y découvre les « AGIT », antique tradition orale où les femmes chantent leurs morts. Ces chants ouvrent un espace de deuil où les femmes turques, kurdes, mais aussi arméniennes absentes de cette terre, peuvent chanter "ensemble".
La confrontation avec les "absentes de sa mémoire" nous emmène à l'extrême est de l'Anatolie, jusqu'au pied de la montagne Ararat, et au-delà.

Beyond the Ararat is the story of a woman of Turkish origin who embarks on a journey to better understand what makes up her identity.
A road movie which brings her from her childhood neighborhood in Brussels to Turkey and Armenia. A quest where each woman she encounters could be the reflection of herself.
Entering the land of her ancestors, Anatolia, she questions her cultural heritage. Stopping in her grandmother’s village, she discovers the “Agit”; an antique oral tradition where women sing for their dead. The songs open a potential space for mourning, where Turkish, Kurdish but also Armenian women missing from that land, can sing “together”.
The confrontation with the “missing” from her memory, brings her farther eastward in Anatolia to the foot of the Ararat Mountain, and beyond...
